Margarita Cedeño afirma su gobierno será paritario

The former Vice President of the Republic, deputy of the Parlacen and presidential candidate of the Dominican Liberation Party (PLD), Margarita Cedenosaid that the political participation of women is
essential for world security and peace.

During your participation in the conference “Political Participation of Women, in the Dominican Republic their contributions to security and La Paz”she said, “the participation of women in politics is essential to define comprehensive and inclusive public policies, it is a win-win, due to the holistic and 360-degree view that only women know how to have.”

“Based on the fact that gender equality is a right, since 1948 it has been included in article 2 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and is the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 5 of the 2030 Agenda of the UN”, expressed the Parlacen deputy.

Within the importance of woman in this role their need to produce cultural changes stands out; guarantee a democratic system; promote social care policies; design provisions that promote gender equality and parity, as well as the achievement of a
sustainable development.

Cedeño stated “to choose the equalityit cannot be otherwise, even from the privileged positions that we women who are in the forefront of politics have, we must be proactive and practice Sorority”.

“From my current space and in the near future, I am committed to promoting the active participation of women in all spaces economic, political, social and cultural life. In my government I will have a joint cabinet”, expressed the presidential candidate.

In addition, she encouraged Dominican women to actively participate, get involved, take decisive action to become the next mayors, councilors, deputies or senators.

He said he will continue working from PLD to motivate the political participation of women, and when reaching the presidency of the Republic with greater determination, “because the more women, the better democracy. And where there are empowered women, societies progress”.

His speech concluded by emphasizing that “the inequality it is the great epidemic of the 21st century, which manifests itself more ferociously in women, if we do not make a real commitment so that women have the same opportunities as men, we will be paralyzing the present and seizing the future of our nations”.
