The Cabinet Council this Wednesday authorized the Minister of Agricultural Development, Augusto Valderrama, to present to the National Assembly Bill 1422, which establishes the State Agrifood Policy and other provisions.
Minister Valderrama pointed out that it is very satisfying to be able to present the initiative, which was a promise made by President Laurentino Cortizo Cohen in Tierras Altas in 2019, which establishes a State policy that will determine the development of the agricultural sector.
Valderrama indicated that this is one of the actions established in the Government Plan to shield the sector from the ups and downs of politics.
“In these three years of government we have seen a strengthened agricultural sector, when previously it was practically dismantled,” said the minister.
For his part, Carlo Rognoni, Deputy Minister of Agricultural Development, presented the objectives of the regulations to the Council of Ministers.
Rognoni explained that the aim is to transform the agricultural sector into an inclusive, efficient, sustainable, innovative sector, as well as to guarantee legal certainty and institutional adaptation.
He indicated that it is also intended to guarantee sovereignty and nutritional food security with safe products and fair prices.
The Council for Monitoring and Compliance with the State policy of the sector will also be created and its execution will be supervised, which will allow the necessary corrections to be made.
The council of ministers also approved Cabinet Resolution Project 89-22, which approves the contracting, by means of an exceptional procedure to be held between the Ministry of Education and the company Constructions and General Maintenance, for the project of study, design, development of plans and construction of the Escuela República de Venezuela and the Instituto Comercial Bolívar, located in the township of Calidonia, district and province of Panama.
The Minister of Education, Maruja Gorday de Villalobos, indicated that this is a distinguished project.
For his part, Ricardo Sánchez, Deputy Minister of Educational Infrastructure, indicated that since 2017 the structures were condemned and the students were located elsewhere.
Sánchez explained to the ministers that given the unsuccessful bidding acts in 2020 and 2021, in 2022 the online quotation procedure was requested for exceptional contracting and an evaluation commission chose the company with the highest score.
This construction is expected to be completed in January 2024.
