The Senate meets this afternoon, after more than a month without plenary sessions, with issues agreed between the ruling party and the opposition among which stand out the Tax Consensus signed between the provinces and the Nation, the project that extends the incentive for construction and an initiative so that antibiotics must be prescribed with a filed prescription.
The plenary meeting takes place from 2:30 p.m., led by Vice President Cristina Fernández de KIrchner and is the first after the July recess.
Among the first topics to be discussed, the senators paid tribute to Eva Perón and the sailor Luis Piedrabuena, and preference motions related to the appointment of associate judges in the city of Rosario (Santa Fe) and projects pending resolution.
Tax Consensus
It was signed on December 27 of last year by the opposition governments of Jujuy, Corrientes, Mendoza, Córdoba, Neuquén, Misiones and Río Negro, in addition to the rest of the provinces governed by the ruling party.
The only jurisdictions that did not adhere were San Luis, La Pampa and the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires. governed by the leader of PRO, Horacio Rodríguez Larreta.
It is a federal agreement that seeks the implementation of a tax policy and administration articulated among all the participating jurisdictions, so that the different decisions are adopted within a framework of legal stability while ensuring tax harmonization.
Other projects
In addition, the upper house will advance with the extension of the validity of a money laundering to specifically activate the construction sector with tax incentives for those who declare assets and that includes part of the “bridge to employment” program referred to the conversion of social plans into genuine work.
On the other hand, the legislators will debate a bill of the Executive Power that establishes modifications to the disciplinary regime in prisons from the country.
The initiative sent to the Senate in 2021 arose from a recommendation received by the Argentine State from the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights, which stated that the national regulation on the matter presents “a significant delay” in the international context.
Finally, the senators will debate two issues related to public health: the declaration of June 23 of each year as National Dravet Syndrome Day and a project that requires filed prescription for antibiotics.
