Madrid Spain.- Independent journalist Nelson Julio Álvarez Mairata, who I quit this Monday to his work as a reporter for this medium due to pressure from State Security, he denounced that in the last two days false accounts have been created with his name on social networks to defame about his sexuality.
In the midst of all the harassment that I am experiencing by the SE and just denouncing that false profiles expose my sexuality and make fun of my gender identity. Here I just found this publication gem ? pic.twitter.com/3hz2wICKIz

“This is not new. It had already happened to me in 2019, when I was arrested twice in a row. They raided my house. They took away my work equipment, they left me in a cell for 48 hours and they took away my phone. When I left I realized that they had hacked my profiles and shared personal and intimate videos that I had on the cell phone, ”he told CubaNet Alvarez Mairata.
“I thank the people who have reported these false profiles because I feel the support, but this is not going to solve anything, because they will continue to create others,” he considered.
The reporter also told this outlet that in the last few hours he has been receiving calls from several Cubans who want to buy products such as milk and eggs, since their number has been placed on the Revolico buy/sell page.
“The people who are exposing my phone number are using the misery of the Cuban people to harass an independent journalist,” he declared.
Yesterday he had to turn off his phone because of the constant calls, “including one from First Lieutenant Roberto, who is the repressor who usually calls his private number.”
The journalist also referred to the constant threats by State Security, related to prosecuting him when the Penal Code comes into force; as well as threats to his family and his 17-year-old sister.
This Monday, upon submitting his resignation, Mairata explained: “In the most recent interviews with First Lieutenant Roberto and his colleagues, in addition to the threats with a legal procedure once the new Penal Code is approved and to insist that he stop working for CubaNetThey ask me to make a video talking about my relationship with said newspaper and its financing, which I flatly refuse. In the last interview, on August 4, I was already feeling a greater exhaustion than what I experienced in other circumstances. The next day I had to attend another interview at 8:30 am in a visiting house that I could not attend because I was weak. I could barely get out of bed that morning. I thought for a moment that I might have dengue fever due to physical weakness, but I had no symptoms such as fever, vomiting, or muscle aches. Only decay and the inability to sustain physical actions for a prolonged period of time. I had never suffered from such weakness before.”
