The Minister of Justice, Felix Cheroruled on the proceedings carried out on Tuesday by the Special Team of Prosecutors against Corruption of Power in the Government Palace to arrest Yenifer Paredessister-in-law of President Pedro Castillo.
The member of the ministerial cabinet pointed out that the Government cannot allow excesses and abuses. In this sense, he also mentioned the investigations against the head of state.
“We cannot allow excesses or abuses. When the investigation is distorted, when meetings are held to deal with specific issues such as the investigation of the President of the Republicwithout a doubt we can doubt and we can suspect that after these meetings there may be an intention directed to pretend to continue with this purpose of vacancy”, he told the press.
Next, Chero assured that the Prosecutor’s Office opens inquiries without having “a correct legal qualification”. Therefore, he urged that actions be taken within the framework of the Constitution and the law.
“There are actions that constitute excesses because they constantly try to open investigations without having a correct legal classification of the criminal types for which it is intended to open an investigation“, held.
“What we demand is that acts be carried out within the framework of the Constitution and the law, that objective investigations be carried outin such a way that it demonstrates that there is an investigation that the Prosecutor’s Office has established as an act of its functions”, he added.
Likewise, the head of the Ministry of Culture, Alexander Salasexplained that his arrival and that of other ministers at the Government Palace during the proceedings of the Public Ministry, coincided with a meeting that had been postponed with the president and with the president of the Council of Ministers, Aníbal Torres.
