Deputy Chávez denounces that almost 5,000 Venezuelan migrants died in violent acts

Julio Chávez indicated that they have a database with the name and surname of migrants who died in violent acts in various countries and that they will cross it with the CNE database. He affirmed that he is working on a bill that allows his reinsertion in Venezuela

The deputy of the National Assembly elected in December 2020 and member of the Special Commission that investigates crimes against Venezuelan migrants, Julio Chávez, denounced on Tuesday, August 9, that 4,918 of our nationals have been allegedly killed in violent acts recorded in countries of the region such as Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.

Chávez indicated that they have a database with the name and surname of the deceased migrants and said that all that remains is to cross the data that is handled by the National Assembly with that of the National Electoral Council (CNE) and verify the identity of those who lost life.

On the other hand, the legislator affirmed that a bill is being worked on that allows the reintegration of Venezuelan migrants who return to the nation, while stressing that 70% of those who are in countries such as Argentina and Colombia have said who want to return.

“We are studying the policies to receive and reinsert these migrants. The 70% that we have registered in Argentina are willing to return to Venezuela and the same happens with migrants in other countries. We are adapting the Venezuelan legal regulations to reinsert them”, he pointed out.

early julyDeputy Julio Chávez said he had received complaints about the deaths of Venezuelan migrants in Colombia and reiterated his complaint from previous weeks, in which he claimed that more of our nationals have been murdered in the neighboring country than the signatories of the peace agreement, detailing that between 2016 and 2021, 276 signers of the peace agreement and 753 Colombian social leaders died, versus 1,279 Venezuelan migrants.

“More than 82% of the murder of Venezuelan migrants occurs in Colombia,” the deputy denounced then.
