Coronavirus in Cuba: 117 discharges in a day with 87 infections

Cuba notified 117 medical discharges among the admissions for the coronavirus this Monday, when, according to the part published today by the Ministry of Public Health (Minsap), 87 new infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus were identified.

In total, 1646 samples were processed and, of the positive ones, 54 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases; in three individuals the virus had been imported and 30 added the patients in whom the cause of the infection was not specified.

The largest number of cases came from the Holguín and Santiago de Cuba provinces, with 22 and 15 respectively. On the contrary, only Pinar del Río and Mayabeque were free of diagnosed patients on August 8.

In total, 706 people remained hospitalized due to COVID-19; of these, 446 were confirmed active cases. The intensive care rooms closed with seven bedridden patients.

By age ranges, infections continue to predominate in those under 20 years of age, with 49 cases on the day. In addition, 16 corresponded to the range between 20 and 39 years old, 11 to 40 to 59 years old and also 11 were over 60.

The fatalities of COVID-19 total 8,529 in Cuba. No deaths were reported this day. The lethality remains at 0.77%.
