The deputy for the National District, José Horacio Rodríguez, stated that the country needs congressmen who are more concerned about the problems faced by the country’s communities and that this concern should lead to a more active oversight of the State institutions responsible for providing quality public services to the population.
He indicated that in order to guarantee the basic needs of the population, as well as to leave behind patronage practices in Dominican politics, it is necessary to work on strengthening State institutions, “to prevent people in a situation of social exclusion from being easy prey.” of bad politicians who capitalize on poverty with gifts and alms, which damage the social self-esteem of the country, causing distrust of citizens towards their representatives”.
The deputy of the Democratic Option party made the statement in the Los Praditos sector of constituency No. 1 of the National District where he was talking with neighbors and community leaders of the area in the framework of the ninth open meeting he is holding with the citizens of his demarcation.
During the meeting, he also reported that he is promoting the bill that establishes a 21-day paternity leave for the benefit of Dominican working parents.
