The pedestrian Ciro Gomes registered today (8) his candidacy for the presidency of the Republic in the Superior Electoral Court (TSE). The slate will have as a candidate for vice, Ana Paula Matos, who is also from the PDT.
Ciro declared to the TSE a list of assets worth R$ 3 million, consisting of real estate, vehicles and investments. The declared equity of Ana Pauta is R$ 1.2 million.
The registration request is a necessary formality for the Electoral Justice to verify if candidates have any legal restrictions that prevent them from running in the October elections.
To date, the TSE has received eight requests for registrations from presidential candidates. For state, federal, district, senator and governor positions, registration is carried out in the regional electoral courts.
All information about the candidacy as well as the candidate’s comprehensive government plan can be found at dissemination portal of candidates and accounts of the Electoral Justice.
The Electoral Justice can receive new candidacy registrations until August 15. In the case of presidential candidates, the TSE has until September 12 to judge, approving or rejecting, all registration requests, after analyzing whether or not all the formal requirements required by electoral legislation have been met.
Officially, the election campaign, when candidates can effectively ask for votes and publicize their numbers, starts on August 16.
