Sabinas, Coah., President Andrés Manuel López Obrador yesterday visited the El Pinabete mine, where 10 workers have been trapped since Wednesday due to a flood. The president reiterated to the families of the miners that the priority is to find them alive, for which he ordered that they not skimp on the tasks to drain the excavation to the appropriate level for rescue divers to enter.

López Obrador arrived in Coahuila from Colima. A Mexican Air Force plane took him to the Venustiano Carranza airport, in the Monclova metropolitan area and, according to federal government sources, he then traveled by helicopter to Nueva Rosita, municipality of San Juan de Sabinas, to travel in a van to leaf.

The President was received at the site by PRI governor Miguel Ángel Riquelme and representatives of the Army, who apply the DN-III Plan at the scene of the incident and supervise the operation of the liquid extraction pumps, as well as the levels of flooding in the sinkhole

The president told relatives of the trapped miners: let’s keep working.

Riquelme presented a balance of the situation. He said that on Saturday night specialists introduced a camera and it was observed that there are no landslides that hinder the entry and movement of divers, once the water level allows it.

On Saturday, the operators increased the pumping capacity and managed to lower the levels of the liquid by extracting 350 liters per second between Saturday night and Sunday morning.

reactions

Not all families reacted the same to the arrival of López Obrador. Ana Leticia Moreno Leija, sister of miner José Rogelio, who is currently inside the coal pit, commented that she expected a better response. She pointed out that the federal government has not informed them of the intention of the visit, since they did not obtain any progress regarding the rescue, nor news about what is going to be done.

Nothing else told us that he was with us, greeted us and left. That’s not enough, we expected her to bring large machinery, to dig elsewhere to get the water out, it took about five minutes, there are big pumps there and they haven’t put them in, we don’t know why.narrowed down

Lucía Rodríguez, mother of Ramiro Torres Rodríguez, considered that the President only went to take a photo with the relatives of the workers, not to give answers to those who await rescue.

Mr. President, I thank you for your visit that you came to make to this area where the pain is right now, I thank you for coming to take a photo with my pain, with that of my family and the pain of each one of us who are here ; Thank you, I hope that your photographs will serve your policy, thank you, thank you very much, for the great visit you came to make, I appreciate it.
