"They seek to disqualify the public image of political leaders like Lula, like Cristina"

The Brazilian sociologist and political analyst Emir Sader affirmed that the judicial accusations against Vice President Cristina Kirchner are due to the impossibility of the right-wing “defeating her electorally and democratically”, for which they seek through the courts to “expel her from the politics”.

“What happens with Cristina is that the right cannot defeat her in popular support, neither electorally, nor democratically, and that is why they try to expel her from politics, disqualify her legally,” Sader told Télam Radio.

“What happens with Cristina is that the right cannot defeat her in popular support, neither electorally, nor democratically, and that is why they try to expel her from politics, legally disqualify her”

The defense of Vice President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner challenged the prosecutor Diego Luciani and the judge of the Federal Oral Court 2 Rodrigo Giménez Uriburu in the framework of the oral trial for alleged irregularities in the public works of Santa Cruz between 2003 and 2015.

Lawyers Carlos Beraldi and Ary Llernovoy demanded that both withdraw from the trial and that everything done by both in the case be declared null and void, given the alleged loss of objectivity and impartiality as a result of an alleged friendship relationship and the dissemination of photographs of a soccer team that both integrate.

For Sader, Cristina Fernández’s situation has parallels with that of former Brazilian President Lula Da Silva, who spent 540 days in prison on unproven charges.

“Lula was a victim of what is called the judicialization of politics or ‘lawfare’: raising baseless accusations with the connivance of the Judiciary and sectors of the media; disqualifying the public image of political leaders like Lula, like Cristina, trying in this way to prevent them from being elected, being the main national, popular political leaders of the country”, he analyzed.

The sociologist pointed out that, currently, after having been released and regained his political rights, Lula is the favorite to win the next elections in the neighboring country, and that, he said, “is what will happen to Cristina.”
