During his speech, the president specified 10 commitments that your government acquires.
Petro said that he will seek to achieve a true and definitive peace. This implies compliance with the Peace Agreement with the FARC and following the recommendations delivered by the Truth Commission together with the Final Report.
2. Caring for grandparents, children and people with disabilities

3. Governing with and for women
The left-wing leader assured that in order to reduce gender gaps, he will create the Ministry of Equality and have a parity government. “Finally, with our vice president and minister, Francia Márquez, we are going to work so that gender does not determine how much you earn or how you live,” he said.
4. Dialogue with everyone
Petro promised to dialogue with everyone without exclusion or exceptions. “An open door government,” she said. His goal is to build a great national agreement. “The important thing is not where we come from but where we are going,” she pointed out.

5. Listen to Colombians
At this point, the leader of the Historical Pact stressed that he is looking for a government that is not from a distance. “Government is by listening. We are going to design mechanisms so that all Colombians feel heard. I will not be trapped between the curtains of bureaucracy… I hope they open my houses,” he said.
6. Defend Colombians from violence
Petro promised to create a human security strategy. This implies redemption programs, ending hunger and the persecution of criminal structures.
“The lives saved will be the indicator of success. Safety is measured in lives, not deaths,” he said.
7. Fight corruption
“A government of zero tolerance. We are going to recover what was stolen. Watch so that it is not done again and transform the system to discourage this type of practice,” assured the president.
Consequently, he said that the state intelligence bodies will not persecute the political opposition, nor the free press, nor the judiciary, nor those who think differently.
8. Protect the biodiversity of Colombia
Petro said he will not allow the greed of a few to put the country’s biodiversity at risk. Its commitment is to confront deforestation and promote the development of clean and renewable energies. “Colombia will be a world power of life,” he said.

9. Develop the national industry, the popular economy and the Colombian countryside
The president will give priority to peasant women and women from the popular economy, and to small and medium-sized entrepreneurs. “We will be a rich society if we work. Science, culture and knowledge is the true fuel of the 21st century.”
10. Enforce the Constitution
“We will develop a new legal coverage to make our development sustainable, fair and equal. We need new laws at the service of the great majority and guarantee their compliance,” Petro said.
