CAF confirmed a disbursement of US$740 million for infrastructure

President Alberto Fernandez announced this Sunday night that CAF-Development Bank of Latin America confirmed a disbursement of $6.74 billion for infrastructure works, of which US$325 million will be disbursed in August.

“I met with CAF authorities and they confirmed a total disbursement of US$740 million for works and infrastructure in Argentina,” the President reported this Sunday from Colombia, where attended the inauguration of Gustavo Petro.

In this framework, and prior to embarking on the trip back to Argentina, Fernández met with CAF authorities to review the financing agenda that this credit organization has with the country.

As part of that agenda, CAF directors confirmed the launch of programs that “consist of expanding and improving school infrastructure, recovery and development of agro-export complexes.”

Also included is financing for “support for the Argentine road system, the Argentina Plan Against Hunger, and environmental and climate action in our country.”

Among the approved loan lines, The agency will finance the Basic, Primary Works and Secondary Networks Program for the AMBA with US$ 340 million through a loan to the National Ministry of Public Works, through AYSA.

The project includes the expansion and improvement of access to sanitation and wastewater treatment services, which will benefit 166,000 residents of the districts of Malvinas Argentinas, José C. Paz, Moreno, Tigre and San Miguel. Works to guarantee drinking water to 1,300,000 inhabitants of Ezeiza, Esteban Echevarría and La Matanza are also included.

The main objective of the program is to contribute to improving the quality of life, hygiene and health of the inhabitants of the Metropolitan Area of ​​Buenos Aires, in an environmentally sustainable manner, through the expansion and greater access, and the improvement of the efficiency of services. of water and sanitation.

CAF approved a US$100 million loan to finance the Argentine National Program Against Hungercarried out by the Ministry of Social Development.

The initiative seeks to implement social policy actions linked to the food security of families in vulnerable situations in the context of the social and health emergency caused by Covid-19, especially for children and adolescents..

In total, the Program reaches more than 2,419,592 people distributed throughout the national territory, who receive the AlimentAR benefit and aims to promote a more inclusive and sustainable human development focused on early childhood.

CAF’s support for this Program corresponds to a third phase. Previously, CAF provided budgetary support for this initiative through two financings for US$300 million each.

It was also confirmed that the president of CAF, Christian Asinelli, will come to Argentina to hold a seminar next week.
