The 28-year-old canoeist from Bahia started in second place, and was even overtaken in the middle of the dispute, ranking fourth. But the Bahian did not give up and reacted in the final 250 meters, with a spectacular sprint, which guaranteed him second place, 1s52 behind Romanian Catalin Chirila, who took the gold by crossing the finish line in 4min14s28.
With the second podium in the competition, Isaquias expanded his collection of medals in worlds to 14; now he adds seven golds, one silver and six bronzes. Not to mention the Olympic achievements: one gold, two silvers and one bronze (Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020).
Also this Sunday (7th), there was the final of the Olympic medalist Erlon Souza in partnership with Filipe Vieira in the C2 1000m race. They finished fifth, 13.33 seconds behind Germans Sebastian Brendel and Tim Hecker, who took gold.
Filipe Vieira also competed in the C1 5000 race, known as the speed canoeing marathon, and finished in 10th position.
