Grape exports increase, while mango and avocado exports fall in the first half

Peruvian agricultural exports would grow 10.2% this year, ADEX projects

The Peruvian agrarian production totaled around US$ 4,039 million in the first half of 2022, registering an increase of 20.6% compared to the same period of the previous year, reported the (ADEX).

He indicated that the United States remains the leading market, concentrating 31.3% of the total. This country mainly demanded fresh grapes (US$297.1 million), avocados (US$115.4 million), coffee (US$101.4 million), cranberries (US$86.3 million), fresh asparagus (US$78.7 million) and fresh mangoes ( $52.4 million).

In the top 10, two items closed in the red: fresh asparagus (-9.5%) and fresh mangoes (-17.9%); and two others with three-digit growth: coffee (298.4%) and blueberries (103.6%).

Value added

Non-traditional agro-industrial exports from Peru to the world were the most outstanding, reaching US$ 3,579 million between January and June 2022, a variation of 11.2% and a representation of 88.6% of the total.

The supply was of fresh grapes (US$595.4 million) with a growth of 17.2%, followed by avocados with US$518.4 million (-16.2%) and fresh or dried mangoes with US$207.5 million (-9.1%).

The US led the ranking with US$1,162 million, an increase of 25.6% and a share of 32.4%. In second place was the Netherlands (US$ 554 million) with a decrease of -2.1%, followed by Spain, Ecuador, Chile, China, Mexico, the United Kingdom, Hong Kong and Canada.

According to the ADEX Data Trade Commercial Intelligence System, traditional agricultural shipments (from Peru to the world) totaled US$459.7 million, achieving a growth of 252.8% and a share of 11.4% of the total.

Its leading item was coffee (US$ 434.9 million) with a representation of 94.6% and an increase of 331.8%. The second and third places were occupied by other refined cane or beet sugars in solid state and cane molasses, respectively.

The US with US$ 102.3 million was positioned in the first place with an increase of 287.4% and a concentration of 22.2%. Likewise, Germany (US$ 98 million), Belgium (US$ 47 million), Colombia and Sweden stood out in the top five.
