Before the reduction of infections and decrease of applications for temporary incapacity for work, the closure of the Covid-19 permit from August 8. Since the release of version 4.0, 175,682 permissions have been granted remotely.
Due to the observed reduction in Covid-19 infections and the decrease in requests for temporary incapacity for work, the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) announced that as of Monday, August 8, the Covid Permit ends in its version 4.0, a tool which was enabled at the beginning of July to provide an alternative non-face-to-face digital service for the current insured working population.
Since July 6, when this tool was enabled and until its closure, 175,682 permits were granted. During this period, workers insured by the IMSS were able to generate a document comparable to Temporary Incapacity for Work for 5 days, remotely and without the need to go to their assigned clinic.
As of the closure of this tool, all those workers who present symptoms of Covid-19 must go directly to the Social Security Respiratory Care Modules (MARSS) or to their Family Medicine Unit (UMF) for face-to-face assessment.
The Covid permits granted generated payments for subsidy equivalent to 120.1 million pesoswhich contributed to avoiding the transfer of workers for their temporary incapacity for work process and consequent collection at counters, stopping chains of contagion.
Reducing cases of this disease does not imply lowering our guard against prevention, which is why the appropriate use of face masks, hand washing with soap and water or application of 70% alcohol gel, and social distancing of at least 1.5 meters.
