The fire in the English store of the Punta del Este shopping center worsened, causing the partial collapse of a wall and ceiling, according to the National Fire Department of Uruguay. No injuries reported so far.
The fire started in the supermarket bakery during the early hours of Saturday, at the beginning of the day of preparation of the products in that sector. Firefighters had managed to contain the spread of the fire yesterday afternoon. However, it got worse this morning.
The mall, which was scheduled to reopen normally this Sunday, in the face of this new scenario, announced that it will remain closed “until further notice.”
