The March of San Cayetano began to take place in 2016 -in the midst of the Macrista government-, and was initially promoted by the Evita Movement, the Clasista and Combative Current (CCC) and the Somos Barrios de Pie Movement, a group of organizations known as ” the Cayetanos”.

The leader stressed that “the march represents the search for social movements to be protagonists in the reconstruction of Argentina” and “thus expand and guarantee rights in all corners of the country.”

For its part, Juan Carlos Alderete, national deputy of the Frente de Todos (FdT) and national coordinator of the CCChighlighted to this agency that “this Sunday we expect a very large mobilization, because the needs of the people are many”.

“We understand that we are in a very difficult scenario, but We are going to continue, we accompany the Front of All based on a program that was the one that the majority of the Argentine people voted to defeat the macrismo and get out of the economic and social crisis,” Alderete said.

In that sense, he expressed that “with that conviction we are going to demand that urgent measures be taken that are on the way to fulfilling that program.”

“Food cannot be a means for the extortion of financial speculation. We must defeat the neoliberal state that does not guarantee food quotas for the internal market,” said the Buenos Aires Peronist leader.

Along these lines, he pointed out that “what is eaten here is sold abroad, so foreign trade must be controlled to favor the people with prices and supplies, while guaranteeing better prices to national producers” and affirmed that “the multinational companies take the food out of our children’s mouths and steal foreign currency from the countryside”.
