South American: Inter takes a golden point from Peru against Melgar

The Colombian Camila Osorio was eliminated this Thursday in the second round of the Washington tennis tournament by the British Emma Raducanu, second favorite of the women’s event in the WTA 250 category.

Raducanu, champion of the last US Open, overcame the South American in a tight match in straight sets 7-6 (5), 7-6 (4) in two hours and 50 minutes to advance to the quarterfinals of the event.

In the next stage the British will face the Russian Liudmila Samsonova, who previously beat the Australian Ajla Tomljanovic with scores of 4-6, 6-3, 6-2.

The Colombian had beaten the American Sofia Kenin 7-6 (7/2), 6-1 in the previous round, while Raducanu had beaten the also local Louisa Chirico 6-4, 6-2.

In the men’s branch (ATP), in the third round match, the British Daniel Evans (16th in the tournament) eliminated the third seed, the American Taylor Fritz, who left after losing 3-6, 7-6 ( 6), 4-1.

Evans’ rival in the quarterfinals will be Japanese Yoshihito Nishioka, who beat Russian Karen Khachanov, seventh seed, with scores of 7-6 (2), 7-6 (1).
