After the recognition hearing of the Special Jurisdiction for Peace (JEP) that was taking place in Cali, whose objective was to discover the truth about the kidnapping and subsequent murder of the twelve deputies from Valle, was postponed, the lawyer of the families of the victims, Juan Camilo Sanclemente, assured that, apparently, there is an interest so that the truth is not known and highlighted that those appearing changed the version of the facts.

In dialogue with RCN Mundo, the lawyer reported that the hearing was postponed when the JEP magistrate interrupted Sigifredo López, former deputy of the Valley and president of the Defense of Innocents Foundation, arguing that he had changed the methodology.
“These people told details of how the planning, execution and massacre of the deputies of the Valley were, they answered several of the questions that were formulated; they gave us a space so that we could ask questions and that they would answer, within that presentation, the magistrate interrupted Sigifredo, saying that a very different situation was being presented to the one that had been proposed and changed the methodology, indicating that all the questions should be formulated to her, to later deliver them to those appearing”, indicated the professional.
The same way, The lawyer was emphatic in emphasizing that, apparently, there is an interest so that the truth about the massacre of the deputies is not known, arguing that the responsibility of alias ‘Grillo’ is being left aside in the hearingswho was in charge of the custody of the victims on the day of the massacre.

“I do not know if there is an interest so that this truth is not known, or what is the fear that those appearing will tell (…) The greatest disappointment they present is regarding the massacre of the deputies of the Valley”, he added.
Facing the day of the assassination of the Valle del Cauca politicians, the attorney for the victims indicated that, despite the fact that information found in several emails from ‘Raúl Reyes’ is known, the appearing parties have delivered a new version, which indicates that “six people arrived at the camp where the deputies were, the person who was in charge of their security had a conversation with one of the six people for four minutes, then they began to shoot, killing only the deputies.”

Finally, the legal professional was emphatic in highlighting that with this new version, it is intended to remove the responsibility of alias ‘Grillo’ who, according to him, was the one who gave the order to assassinate the politicians.
“They are leaving aside the responsibility of ‘Grillo’ who had custody of the deputies and was the person who said “kill them!” He has not wanted to accept his responsibility; they want to remove the ‘Cricket’ from his responsibility and blame people who have nothing to do with it”, he claimed.
