Former deputy Juan Requesens (First Justice) was sentenced to eight years in prison for attempting on the life of the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro.
This was reported by Joel García, defender of Requesens, who wrote this Thursday morning on his Twitter account «At this time leaving the trial hearing of Juan Requesens who was sentenced to eight years for the crime of conspiracy. In the next few hours I will meet with his family for further actions. We will continue to report.”
For her part, Madelein García, on her Twitter account, specified that for the frustrated assassination “16 civilians and 2 soldiers were also sentenced, and the sentences range up to 30 years,” she published.
The decision of the First Special Trial Court with jurisdiction in cases related to Crimes Associated with Terrorism with Jurisdiction at the National Level, comes four years after the drone attack against President Nicolás Maduro.
The 17 accused of this act were arrested in August 2018 and charged with treason against the country; Qualified intentional homicide committed with treachery and for an ignoble motive to the degree of frustration against the President of the Republic and terrorism, among other crimes.
The capture of former deputy Julio Borges is pending, whom the Public ministry attributes the intellectual authorship of the frustrated assassination.
