One day before his formal landing at the head of the now unified Ministry of Economy, Production and Agriculture, Sergio Massa announced who will be the officials who will head the main secretariats that will make up the new national portfolio.
Juan José Bahillo – Secretary of Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries
Bahillo was until today Minister of Production, Tourism and Economic Development of Entre Ríos, province where he was born in 1966, in the town of Gilbert, and between 2007 and 2015 he was mayor of the city of Gualeguaychú.
He was the first communal chief of the city of Entre Ríos to be re-elected, from where he was also director of the local Rural Society based on his link with the sector, since Bahillo is dedicated to dairy production through a family business to which he joined in 1993 and has been managing since 1999.
He was also a national deputy for Entre Ríos, a position he assumed in 2017 and left in 2019 to head the Ministry of Production in his province.
Bahillo’s appointment is interpreted as a gesture by the Frente de Todos to the Peronist governors of the provinces of the Central Region: Gustavo Bordet (Entre Ríos), Omar Perotti (Santa Fe) and Juan Schiaretti (Córdoba), as indicated to Télam .
José Ignacio de Mendiguren – Production Secretary
De Mendiguren -70 years old- is a textile businessman who twice presided over the Argentine Industrial Union (UIA) (2001-2002 and 2011-2012), with a “productivist” profile and was Minister of Production between 2002 and 2003, during the presidency of Eduardo Duhalde.
Currently president of the Banco de Inversión y Comercio Exterior (BICE), De Mendiguren is a lawyer by profession specialized in business law, with an extensive career in public management that includes having been director of Banco Nación between 1999 and 2002, and a national deputy between 2013 and 2019, representing the Renovating Front.
“El Vasco” was also president of the Argentine Industrial Chamber of Clothing (CIAI); Vice President of the Buenos Aires Chapter of the SID (Society for International Development); president of the Mercosur Clothing Manufacturers Association (Aivem); and president of the Argentine Federation of the Textile and Clothing Industry (FAIA).
Matías Tombolini – Secretary of Commerce
Tombolini is the current president of the Argentine State telecommunications company, Arsat, a position he assumed last February after leaving the vice presidency of Banco Nación, where he had arrived with the assumption of the government of Alberto Fernández in December 2019.
Economist and consultant, his participation in political activity began as a candidate for legislator of the City of Buenos Aires in 2005 and 2009, although he did not occupy a seat, while in 2017 he presented himself to occupy a seat in the Chamber of Deputies for the 1País alliance, then led by Sergio Massa.
In 2018 he was appointed president of the Economic and Social Council of the City of Buenos Aires and, the following year, he ran as a candidate for Head of Government of Buenos Aires by Federal Consensus, elections in which he obtained third place with 7% of the votes. , behind Horacio Rodríguez Larreta and Matías Lammens.
