On Monday, August 1, the Venezuelan Justice denied the “decay of the case” against photojournalist Jesús Medina for alleged crimes of “incitement to hatred”, a process that has been open since 2018.
Medina put on his social networks that, in addition to maintaining the legal process against him, he also did not allow him to extend his presentation in court every 30 days, while insisting that there is no evidence against him.
The lawyer for the Penal Forum Stefania Migliorini, who represents the photojournalist, indicated that an official promoted by the Prosecutor’s Office “as an interpreter” attended the hearing. The judge was asked about the requirements to decline the measure and extend the presentations.
According to Miglorini, the court’s denial is that the Public Ministry requested the extension of the presentations almost three and a half years after what corresponds, according to what is established in the laws. He indicated that the process will continue on August 15.
