Cuba identified 60 infections of the SARS-CoV-2 virus on Monday, August 1, a day in which an increase in patients in intensive care rooms was reported, according to the part that publishes today the Ministry of Public Health (MINSAP).
694 people remained hospitalized due to the pandemic, of which 419 were confirmed active cases. Both figures were lower than those reported the previous day, although bedridden patients in intensive care increased, the total of which closed at nine, with eight reported in serious condition.

Cuban laboratories processed 1,684 samples, and of the positive ones, 46 correspond to contacts of confirmed cases, while only one individual had the virus imported. 13 added the patients in whom the cause of the infection was not specified.
The highest figures corresponded to Holguín (14), the only territory above ten. Pinar del Río, Mayabeque, Matanzas and the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality were free of new cases.
By age ranges, infections in those under 20 years of age predominate again, with 39 cases on the day. In addition, eight corresponded to the range between 20 and 39 years old, also eight to 40 to 59 years old and five were over 60.
The fatalities of COVID-19 continue to total 8,529 on the Island, since no deaths were reported this day either. The lethality is 0.77%, points out the Minsap.
