MAIMON, Bonao.- Relatives and friends of the two miners who were trapped since early Sunday morning while working in a mine managed by the Dominican Mining Corporation (Cormidom), joined in prayer to pray for the lives of both.
The trapped miners are the Dominican Gregory Méndez Torres and the Colombian Carlos Yépez, who have not been able to receive food or water, according to their relatives.
The mine is located in the town of Cerros de Maimón, northeast of the Monseñor Nouel province.
Some relatives complained because, allegedly, company executives told them that they could not stay inside the company’s facilities.
“They have asked us not to talk or share information about what is happening with the rescue,” said Harlin Méndez, Gregory’s sister.
Relief agencies tried this Monday to achieve communication with the two trapped men, through a mini tunnel, in order to supply them with food and water.
