The prosecutor Adriana Edelman achieved the indictment of a young man for the death of a 17-year-old girl, who was shot in the head. The crime occurred on Saturday night, in the neighborhood Spanish Village (Montevideo).
The Justice formalized the investigation this Monday for a crime of aggravated homicide with the use of a firearm; one of the two detainees was charged and ordered to serve a pre-trial detention for 180 days while Edelman gathers elements for an eventual trial. This was reported by the prosecution.
The police arrested an 18-year-old and a 17-year-old after the fact. Both gave their versions, and agree that the older was the one who shot the teenager, but not about how that shot was fired, according to prosecutor Diego Pérez, who had the case during the first hours. Then he went to the Homicide Prosecutor’s Office.
According to what was reported by the Ministry of the Interior, around 9:00 p.m. a 911 call came in reporting a woman wounded by a firearm in Callao and Alberto Calamet.
Police officers attended the scene. They confirmed the information and expanded it with the testimony of those who were at the scene. According to the story, an 18-year-old man was handling his 38-caliber revolver when, at a certain moment, he inadvertently shot and hit the minor, the 17-year-old’s partner.
