In the letter, the board’s opposition bloc pointed out that “the marginalization of Matías del Río was carried out without the knowledge of the board, but was reported later and without giving any specific argument of a professional nature to justify it.”
“In a responsible manner we can affirm that the National State has not experienced any change in its structure that explains the decision, since a rotation of drivers had already been implemented in each block of the program,” they added.
“As directors we express our disagreement with the measure and request that it be reversed, a requirement that was not accepted by the official majority of the board of directors,” they continued.
In this line, they indicated that “we have the intimate conviction, and we have expressed it in the corresponding formal instances, that this decision is motivated by political reasons and, therefore, we consider that it constitutes an enormous damage to the autonomy of public television and its essential pluralism”.
