The residents of this community took the initiative to claim after holding a communal assembly, in which they erected a ‘fighting platform’ in which they claim to feel cheated and cheated by Las Bambas.
“This protest measure is due to the constant abuses of the mining company and the breach of commitments after dispossessing us of our communal territories,” points out the document, which first asks “the immediate return of the land dispossessed by the mining company Las Bambas”.
As a second point, they ask for the review, update and fulfillment of social commitments that the mining company assumed with the residents of Carmen Alto.
They also demand the mitigation of the environmental impact that they ensure, mining has produced in the areas of influenceas well as the installation of a dialogue table between the authorities and community leaders with the representatives of Las Bambas.
