The certificates, which can be read with a QR code on any mobile device, will have basic information on citizens such as the name and surname of the carrier, the doses of vaccines that have been applied and the laboratories where the sera come from.
The ministers highlighted that the homologation of that document, valid in both countries, will speed up the transit of people, especially those who pass through the border.
It will also facilitate tourism and trade, contributing to the recovery of economies hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
“We have made the decision to homologate our two vaccination certificates, that of Ecuador and Colombia and in that sense it is important that the people who live on the borders of our two countries know and recognize the certificate that is delivered in the other country, ”said Minister Ruiz.
Last Wednesday (December 15), Ecuador and Colombia they reopened their land border to the passage, up to 11 kilometers, of drivers of heavy trucks. This is a measure to facilitate the transport of goods between the two countries that have a common border, 586 kilometers long.
And today, both governments announced the total opening of the limit to allow the passage of people and all kinds of vehicles, transport and goods.
