The delivery of the solidarity baskets from the Ministry of Social Development (Mides) has been delayed for almost a month as a result of having been outsourced, as reported by the Mides Workers’ union on Thursday. The problem would be that the most vulnerable who do not have a cell phone with internet and, therefore, cannot use the app.
“We are very concerned about the situation of people who have not received a basket for 25 days, a population that is the most vulnerable, not only because they receive the service but because they cannot access the benefit through TuApp, because they do not have a stable cell phone or because they do not know handle it, ”he told Tevé City the delegate of the Mides Workers Union, Carlos Moreira.
The union understands that this population is the most complicated, and Moreira warns that they do not see a quick solution on the horizon. “And we are the Mides workers who have to show our faces to tell them that this week they cannot take a basket of food for their homes,” said the delegate.
Although the government is in a position to assemble the baskets through the National Food Institute, the union remarked, but in the end they decided to privatize the distribution of these basic food bags.
