Madrid Spain.- Cuban baseball player César Yanquiel Hernández, who was recently caught trying to leave Cuba illegally, asked to be removed from the national sport.
The news was released this week by the specialized baseball journalist Francys Romero, who recalled that in 2021 he had considered the outfielder from Sancti Spiritus as the number 1 talent in the U-18 category.
César Yanquiel Hernandez was part of the Cuba U-12 and U-15 teams and debuted in the concluded 61st National Series with Sancti Spíritus, where he hit .233 with 3 extra-base hits in 94 games.
“After this request for withdrawal, another waiting time opens. Many times the provinces tend to delay these processes. We will see if Hernández can continue his career in the near future and if his trail of talent is not diluted as has happened with others in the past, ”Romero considered through Twitter.
Among the realities of baseball in Cuba today are: 1) departures, 2) withdrawal requests.
In recent days another notable prospect asked to be removed from the system. I rated Hernandez as the #1 prospect in the U-18 category in 2020.https://t.co/wPq0TLUH9e

The man from Sancti Spiritus, who was “regulated” by the island’s regime, was caught last June by Cuban authorities while trying to leave the country along with boxer Andy Cruz, Olympic champion in Tokyo 2020. As a result, both spent several days in prison.
After these events, Andy Cruz requested his withdrawal from the sport in Cuba.
In the middle of the current month it transpired that the boxer had been expelled of the Cuban sports structure, by decision of the National Boxing Commission, “as a result of exhaustive analyzes initiated within the disciplinary commission of the national school.”
According to a note from the official HIT, The measure had been adopted “due to the repeated indiscipline committed by him, including his absence from the training sessions prior to the 2022 Playa Girón National Boxing Tournament and his non-intervention in that event.”
