The Bolivian Prosecutor’s Office reopened the case of a woman who disappeared in 2012 when she was 17 years oldafter a recent version from his mother, according to which he is in the hands of the Colombian guerrilla National Liberation Army (ELN), an official source reported this Friday.
The case “is being reopened, because we did not know that the mother already knew of the whereabouts of this person”, identified as Zarlet Clavijosaid the director of the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Gender and Juvenile Crimes, Daniela Cáceres.
The Prosecutor’s Office closed the investigations in June 2019after years of fruitless research.
Cáceres indicated that “all the necessary mechanisms are being activated to be able to show if there is a case of trafficking” of people, and added that they will cross information with their peers from the Colombian public ministry.
Lawyer Marcela Martínez, Zarlet’s mother, stated this week on social networks that her daughter, who disappeared on June 4, 2012, is in the hands of the ELN, the last recognized guerrilla group in Colombia that continues to exert influence in various parts of the territory.
“New contacts have emerged that allow me to reach the National Liberation Army in a friendly manner, who are the ones who have Zarlet, and who told me that Zarletcita came to them as custody“, posted the woman.
