SMEs and industry entrepreneurs support the appointment of Massa

Daniel Rosato considered that the arrival of Sergio Massa to the national cabinet “is going to be very important.”

Entrepreneurs from different sectors highlighted the “capacity, maturity and experience” of Sergio Massa, referring to the appointment of the current president of the Chamber of Deputies at the head of a future ministry that will unify the current portfolios of Economy, Productive Development and Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing.

Among the voices of support are the presidents of Industriales Pymes Argentinos (IPA), the Argentine Chamber of the Toy Industry (CAIJ), the Argentine Chamber of Hosiery Manufacturers, the Association of Metallurgical Industrialists of the Argentine Republic (Adimra) and the Argentine Chamber of Construction (Camarco).

The president of the Argentine Chamber of Commerce and Services (CAC), Natalio Mario Grinman, pointed out that the recent changes made in the national cabinet may be favorable for the Argentine economy and called for efforts from all sectors to abandon the current state of uncertainty. .

Meanwhile, the London newspaper Financial Times stressed that the appointment of Sergio Massa as the new head of the Argentine Ministry of Economy provides “some peace of mind” to the markets.

The head of IPA, Daniel Rosato, considered that the arrival of the Tigrense to the Cabinet “is going to be very important” and highlighted the work team that he will assume from his hand, which will be announced next week, according to Massa himself in statements to the press after meeting with President Alberto Fernández in Olivos.

“Massa has a team of people with a lot of knowledge and experience in different areas, people who have really done a very good job,” Rosato added in a dialogue with Télam Radio.

Along the same lines, Damián Regalini, member of the National Productive Council and president of the Argentine Chamber of Hosiery Manufacturers, highlighted as positive that Massa “has been working with a team for a long time.”

“What is encouraging for the industrial and SME sector is that (Massa) is surrounded by people who know, claim and have worked for the SME sector and industry; he himself continuously claims the fundamental role that SMEs have to play in a Argentina of the future,” Regalini emphasized to Radio Nacional.

For the textile businessman, the landing of the current head of the House of Representatives brings a “light of hope” because “he is a person who meets the necessary conditions to lead the economic project at this time”; and he evaluated as “positive” that “the different areas that make up the economic functioning of the State come together under the orbit of one person and a unified project.”

Meanwhile, Emmanuel Poletto, head of the CAIJ, remarked that Massa’s arrival in the government “renews expectations” for his sector.

“We rely on your experience and knowledge of the State to coordinate the necessary changes,” the toy entrepreneur told Télam Radio.

For his part, the president of Adimra, Orlando Castellani, wished Massa “the greatest success” and said: “We hope that, based on his experience and knowledge, the new Minister of Economy will allow the SME industry in general and metallurgy continues to be one of the engines of economic activity”.

According to Castellani, “in this challenging situation, it is essential that the authorities manage to stabilize the macroeconomy, reduce the exchange rate gap, lower inflation, guarantee that there is productive financing at competitive rates, and articulate, together with the private sector, schemes that guarantee that factories will be able to access to those critical inputs that are not manufactured in the country”.

Meanwhile, Gustavo Weiss, president of Camarco, told FM La Patriada that he has “a positive view of Sergio Massa’s arrival in the Cabinet” because “he is going to impose a different dynamic because he has a lot of experience in the public sector and an enormous capacity for management”.

“Massa is knowledgeable about the business sector, and has a good dialogue with everyone,” which represents a good sign of improvement in the structural problems that the country is suffering, said Grinman, for whom Massa’s appointment will be successful if he manages to coordinate a comprehensive program with broad consensus.

For Grinman, “I hope that the politicians who have the responsibility to govern have understood that things have to be done differently and we hope that Sergio Massa can do a good job for the good of all Argentines.”

“Speculation in recent days of a cabinet change brought some reassurance to the markets in the face of signs that Massa, who is seen as a more moderate member of the ruling coalition, will have full powers to introduce much-needed reforms to reduce inflation and avoid a crisis,” said the British newspaper Financial Times, which stressed that Argentine bonds rose sharply yesterday.

According to analysts quoted by the financial newspaper, the greater control that Massa will have over the various economic areas will allow “carrying out greater changes in policies”, and it is an aspect that -they indicate- “is different from the conditions it had Guzman”.

In the same way, the specialists consulted by the London newspaper affirm that Massa could be in a “better position than his predecessors” to “negotiate with the different members of the coalition and the opposition.”

For its part, the Bloomberg agency considered that his appointment “fueled expectations that the government will implement at least some of the measures that investors believe are necessary to correct the current economic imbalances.”

“Massa is, after all, one of the most ‘pro-market’ politicians in the coalition” and “possesses more political influence than his two predecessors”, considered the article published by Bloomberg.
