The Minister of Public Security, Juan Manuel Pino, highlighted that a total of 23,426 firearms have been destroyed between July 1, 2019 and July 29, 2022, in 24 ceremonies held in the presence of national authorities and observers. international.
“The “Pacifying My Neighborhood” Program, which is being developed in the provinces of Panama and Colon, has collaborated in the collection of firearms of different calibers,” he said.
Pino indicated that the new weapons destruction center has a special shredding machine for the destruction of firearms, which can be in full operation eight hours a day, with the capacity to destroy long and short weapons.
Regarding security, he declared that the “results against crime are tangible”, pointing out that the actions of the Public Force demonstrate it.

He explained that in an interdiction operation carried out at dawn this Friday in the Farallón sector, Coclé province, a unit of the National Air and Naval Service was wounded by a group of drug traffickers. “Fortunately, he is out of danger, and the criminals have been apprehended,” he said.
