Both the BCV and Vice President Delcy Rodríguez described the ruling of a court in London on gold as “unusual”. Rodríguez announced that in the next few hours, President Nicolás Maduro will present “conclusive evidence” on the case.
Several hours after the London High Court issued the ruling on Venezuelan gold, which was in favor of Juan Guaidó, recognized by the United Kingdom Government and a part of the international community as president in charge of Venezuela, they began to know the reactions by the administration of Nicolás Maduro.
First, it was the Central Bank of Venezuela (BCV) that set its position via a statement. In the letter, the “unusual” pronouncement of the High Court of London on the 30 tons of yellow metal in the Bank of England is rejected because, in his opinion, the decision is “subordinated” to the Foreign Policy decisions of the British Government.
This fact, according to the BCV, what it produces is the undermining of the “legitimate powers” that the issuing entity has to manage the country’s international reserves and evidences the violation of the State of International Law by “ignoring” the board of directors appointed by Maduro to strip the country of its reserves.
“It is extremely serious that British foreign policy, which in this case muzzled its courts, causes serious damage to the rights and interests of citizens, institutions and other states,” says the text.
The BCV clarifies that it reserves the right to take legal action to appeal the “unusual and disastrous” decision in defense of Venezuelan gold.

Almost immediately, in VTV A telephone contact was made with the Vice President and Minister of Finance, Delcy Rodríguez, who endorsed what was said in the BCV statement and believes that the position of the High Court of London and its decision may be “distempered” and that they show that there is no court review.
He stressed that the only entity that has a legitimate right to gold is the Executive and the BCV itself, since Guaidó’s “fictional government” has only served to “dispossess Venezuela of its assets” and steal the country’s assets that are abroad.
He indicated that the BCV went to court “confident” that the “mistake” of recognizing a “non-existent government” would be corrected, but instead of correcting flaws, it appeals to an “anachronistic doctrine of One Voice”, for which insists that there is no independence of powers in the United Kingdom because they are “subordinated, muzzled and subjected” to what the British Crown decides on foreign affairs.
He said, in contrast, that in Venezuela there is a separation of powers and “check and balance mechanisms” within the judicial system, which can be reviewed.

He announced that in the next few hours, President Nicolás Maduro will present “conclusive evidence” on the gold case. In this sense, he urged London to take advantage of the moment to “correct” and “return to the correct course” and “not continue with the clowning that Guaidó is president of a country (…) and will never be.”
He warned that several central banks of other countries – which he did not say where they were from – have communicated with Venezuela to find out what had happened and said that their directors were concerned. “No one is going to want to put their gold in the Bank of England because it can be stolen from them in court,” she said.
He made it clear that in Venezuela “there will be justice” against that “criminal, extremist and fascist group” that “have given themselves the task of stealing the assets” of the country.
