About 10 communities of Islani Bajo Zongo were cut off by a collapse on the main highway, the Acaldía de La Paz reported on Thursday. Faced with this emergency, the authority managed support with the Municipal Secretariat for Comprehensive Risk Management (Smgir), the Bolivian Electric Power Company (Cobee) and the La Paz Departmental Road Service (Sedcam) of the La Paz Government.
The relief teams are expected to begin work on Monday, December 20, and will last for three weeks because the affected sector covers about 30 kilometers.

COED La Paz
This Thursday, due to the heavy rains, the Government of La Paz activated the contingency plan to mitigate the effects of the floods. Among the resolutions, the Departmental Emergency Operations Committee (COED) resolved to constantly “monitor” the levels of rivers and basins.
One of the points establishes requesting a greater budget for the Departmental Road Service (Sedcam) and for the implementation of “armic plates and gabions” within the Departmental Road Network, a statement from the institution read.
In addition, the COED recommended avoiding earth movement during the rainy season to avoid damage to infrastructure.
Likewise, it was agreed to manage the acquisition of heavy machinery to keep the roads that link the municipalities of the department of La Paz clear.
