Colombia and Venezuela will gradually reopen borders after August 7

In the middle of the meeting that the appointed foreign minister of the next Colombian government brought forward, Alvaro Leyva, with the Venezuelan foreign minister, carlos fariait was confirmed that once Gustavo Petro assumes the presidency, he will begin the path to restore diplomatic relations at all levels.

Restoring diplomatic relations will take several steps as a gradual border openingthe appointment of ambassadors in Colombia and Venezuela and the establishment of consular teams at different points that would be the border cities.

The statements come after the meeting held between Carlos Faria and Alvaro Leyva in the city of San Cristóbal, in the border state of Táchira.
