The Minister of Mines and Energy, Adolfo Sachsida, said today (28) that the approval of the bill that limited the collection of the Tax on the Circulation of Goods and Services (ICMS) was one of the greatest contributions of Congress to Brazil. The project was sanctioned in June by President Jair Bolsonaro..
During an event promoted by the Brazilian Association of Electric Energy Distributors (Abradee), Sachsida said that the measure could generate jobs and is one of the greatest structural contributions of the National Congress to Brazilian society.
“To charge 30% ICMS on energy, on fuel, that destroys a significant part of economic activity,” he said.

The minister said that he will work together with the distributors to punish the theft of power cables. The issue should be included in a regulation on punishment for fuel theft.
“We are going to include the theft of wires as a crime as well. It is absurd what is happening. It is putting entire communities at risk. This is wrong and it has to be typified. the theft of wires is the same thing”, he said.
Sachsida also defended that banks offer credit to the electricity sector. “The sector, both mining and energy, they have to receive from the banks the same attention that agriculture has. This is going to be one of the most thriving markets in Brazil,” she said.
