Felipe Argote on price control: ‘This must be restructured by a neo-Keynesian model’

Argote said that this economy goes a long way, because our Panamanian economy is very similar to that of Uruguay and Chile, because Colombia has half the per capita income of Panama.

The economist Felipe Argote analyzed the new price control or regulation of the basic family basket, indicating that this must be restructured because there are tools within a modern model that other countries use.

He specified that in the long term, this is not sustainable. “A middle class country should have had a large middle class, not a small middle class and a very small upper class, lots of poor and extremely poor people. Price control is a total disaster in every way,” held.

Argote said that this economy goes a long way, because our Panamanian economy is very similar to that of Uruguay and Chile, because Colombia has half the per capita income of Panama.

He added that this price control thing must be restructured because there are tools within a modern model used by the United States, France, England and Germany that is called a “neo-Keynesian” model because it adapts to the globalized world.
