The Ministry of Health (Ssa) stopped issuing the covid-19 epidemic risk traffic light as of last May when the transmission of the virus was at the lowest levels. There were less than 300 people hospitalized and the percentage of positive tests for the coronavirus was 15 percent.
Last Monday there were 1,885 patients in hospitals, a figure also lower than those reported in the fourth wave (January 2022), with more than 9,000 hospitalized patients.
Currently, although the epidemic curve of the fifth wave already reflects a slight decrease, the number of confirmed cases remains high. Yesterday’s report from the Ssa indicated that the results of laboratory tests were available for 30,497 people with covid-19 and 152 who died from serious complications of the infection.
Thus, the Respiratory Disease Surveillance System (Sisver) has a cumulative record of 6,659,038 cases and 327,261 deaths.
The estimated active cases were 190,962 and the entities with the most people who started with symptoms in the past 14 days, per 100,000 inhabitants, are Mexico City, Colima, Baja California Sur, San Luis Potosí, Querétaro, Tlaxcala, Coahuila, Sinaloa, Nuevo Leon and Tabasco.

However, yesterday there were 17 states with more patients hospitalized in general beds. Among others, they were Guerrero, with 65 percent; Aguascalientes, 53; Durango, 49; Chihuahua, 47, and Mexico City, 33 percent.
In beds with a ventilator, the entities with the highest percentages were Oaxaca, with 17 percent; New Leon, 10; Aguascalientes, 7; Chihuahua, Veracruz and Mexico City, 6 percent each.
