Argentina advocates the full reincorporation of Venezuela into the Southern Common Market (Mercosur), said Oscar Laborde, Argentine ambassador to our country, on Tuesday.
“This is the time for regional integration, and in this multipolar world. America has to be a pole, a pole of autonomy, of standing up to the powerful », she pointed out in statements collected by the Venezuelan News Agency.
“Venezuela has to re-integrate fully into Mercosur and the representatives of the (National) Assembly must join Parlasur,” he added during a speech before the National Parliament, on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the meeting between the Liberator Simón Bolívar and General of the Sue Exercises, José de San Martín.
Ambassador Laborde denounced that there are sectors that want to leave the Patria Grande project as a dream, because in the 2000s, after Comandante (Hugo) Chávez assumed the presidency, there was a number of accession of popular governments and the no to ALCA, and that period, showed that it was virtuous. “There was no better time in all of America during those 15 years,” he said.
It was a very beneficial event for the peoples, because with the incorporation of Venezuela to Mercosur, the creation of Unasur and Celac, “the best years in the entire history of America were experienced, growing in macroeconomic data, reducing poverty, not only growing our pride as a great homeland, but also the real benefits of the peoples».
In addition, he pointed out that the elites in recent years have removed presidents and staged coups, so the response must be the unity of the peoples jointly and simultaneously, to give continuity to the meeting between Bolívar and San Martín in 1822.
Laborde delivered his credential letters to the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, on Monday.
Venezuela has been a full member of Mercosur since 2012, but was illegally excluded with the promotion of the previous Argentine government of Mauricio Macri.
