Havana Cuba. — From the El Pitirre prison of maximum rigor, also known as 15-80, located on the Santa María del Rosario highway, in the San Miguel del Padrón municipality of the capital, the political prisoner Yasser Fernando Rodriguez Gonzalez reported the appearance of a dengue outbreak that for several days has affected a part of the prison population.
In statements offered to CubaNetthe inmate emphasizes that Major Gerardo, a State Security agent, threatened him with “disappearance” if he reported the situation in prison.
Rodríguez González points out that those affected with suspected dengue have not received medical treatment, despite the fact that many are in very poor condition. He also underlines that at least until Monday, July 25, there were more than 16 prisoners with a fever, and that some had suffered convulsions.
According to the testimony of the political prisoner, the prison staff has not provided any type of medication to the patients, since they claim they do not have them in the prison. It also indicates that, from time to time, a nursing prisoner passes by asking if there is someone with a fever, which causes the inmates to become dissatisfied, since the supposed investigation makes no sense if they are not going to be treated.
Rodríguez González points out that among those infected are Hermes David Lores Leyva, Jaime Marón Fabré, Darián Fraide Rivera and Luis Reinaldo Sic Roque, who are in the area known as the deposit, where, according to the political prisoner, there is a permanent accumulation of water.
He also denounces the lack of medical assistance for his health problems, since the prison authorities continue to deceive him over and over again with false deadlines to take him to ophthalmology and stomatology consultations.
