The station of Line 2 of the Panama Metro, which connects with the Specialized Higher Technical Institute (ITSE) and the Tocumen International Airport (AIT), is already 97% complete. This was confirmed by the Comptroller General of the Republic after taking a tour of this work.
The tour carried out by the Comptroller’s Office and Metro staff included a visit to the technical rooms, electricity, signaling, communication, fire alarm, low voltage system.
Agustín Arias, director of projects and planning of the Panama Metro, explained to the comptroller that 97% of the existing progress is in the execution of its civil works and 87% in the railway part.
He stressed that they have started some local tests with the systems up to the airport. He explained that these stations have a single platform, with height restrictions, a single track to the airport and vice versa.

José Vence, National Director of Engineering of the Comptroller’s Office, stated that he continues to carry out periodic inspections in different works to verify that the projects are not delayed and comply with the established parameters and the estimated time.
