Buenos Aires legislators from the Frente de Todos (FdT) proposed to create the state company “CannaBA”, dedicated to the development of products derived from cannabis “for scientific, medicinal, therapeutic and industrial purposes.”
The bill was introduced by Claudia Neira, along with her blockmates Maia Daer, Cecilia Segura, Manuel Socías and Laura Velasco.
According to the project, one of the objectives of CannaBA would be “to promote the establishment of entrepreneurs and companies that generate crops, produce and market derivatives of the cannabis plant.”
Another of its functions would be “design training for the public and private health system in the use of products derived from cannabis”.
To direct this state company, the legislators proposed a board of five members, appointed by the Legislature of the city of Buenos Aires.
CannaBA It would also have an advisory council made up of users and family members of medical cannabis users, professionals in the field, as well as representatives of non-governmental organizations and the Legislature.
In the foundations of the project, reference is made to some legislative antecedents on the subject, among which the sanction, by the National Congress in 2017, of Law 27,350, which regulated research for the medicinal, therapeutic and palliative use of cannabis plant pain
This law was regulated that same year and modified in 2020 with the aim of eliminating obstacles to access to medicinal cannabis oil.
The city of Buenos Aires adhered to this standard in 2020.
Then, last May, the National Congress approved Law 27,669 to regulate the medical cannabis and industrial hemp industry.
