Carriers will remain unemployed indefinitely

President Mario Abdo reported that Petropar reduced between G. 500 and 200 the price of its fuels for the entire population. Yesterday morning, a press conference was held, and according to statements by the president, the means currently exist to apply a cost reduction seeking the benefits of consumers.

The dialogues continue

Mario Abdo stressed that the drop in fuel prices is not precisely linked to the drivers’ protests and that they will continue to talk with them to reach an agreement.

Petropar announced through its social networks the updated costs that come into force as of midnight tonight. Let us remember that the claim of the protesters of public transport requested a reduction of approximately G. 3,000 per liter, while in the truckers sector they seek a discount of at least Gs. 1,000

Pedro Mancuello, from the Vice Ministry of Commerce and Services, said that the drop in fuel “is good news that will help decompress not only the trucking sector but the entire country.”

The representative of the National Federation of Truckers, Juan Villalba, explained that they still do not contemplate the idea of ending the strike, since “if G. 500 went down in a few days it could go down more.” He mentioned that no one contacted them nor did they receive any call as a conciliation. He likewise urged citizens to fight together.

He indicated that during the course of the night and tomorrow they would be meeting to determine what measures they will take as the days go by; demonstrations would remain peaceful, he said.

Other issues that are also under discussion are toll costs and freight reduction, but for the time being they have not been dealt with in depth. More news is expected over the next few days. Given this situation, citizens are the most affected because the threats of route closures and trip cancellations are still in force.
