Still without the vice of the ticket defined, with 262 votes in favor and 9 against, the MDB confirmed, this Wednesday (27), the name of senator Simone Tebet (MS) for the race to Palácio do Planalto in a virtual convention of the acronym held this Wednesday (27). The event was broadcast over the internet and voting took place through a virtual platform. Supported by the PSDB-Cidadania party federation, which was present at the emedebista convention with its presidents, respectively, Bruno Araújo and Roberto Freire, in her speech to the party’s conventioneers, Simone Tebet preached confidence.
“Only we, the democratic center, have the legitimacy to say that it has the capacity to pacify Brazil, to unite Brazil, so that Brazil can regain security, stability and, with that, it can grow again, generate employment and income for our I am ready to be by your side, working for you, so that with the experience of each one of you, I can be the voice of the MDB, PSDB and Cidadania”, said Tebet.
After the convention, in a press conference, she reinforced that today she received the most arduous, the most important mission of her life. “I am a candidate for President of the Republic and as a candidate I put my life in favor of Brazil, democracy and the Brazilian people”, said Simone Tebet. “We are going to transform Brazil with love and courage.”

Even with the PSDB’s declaration of support for Simone Tebet, the name of the candidate for vice on the ticket has not yet been defined by the party. Senator Tasso Jereissati (PSDB-CE) is one of those listed. “The definition of the vice president depends on a series of conversations and internal understandings of political and electoral meaning, in which the final purpose will be to find what is best for the candidacy. Whatever the decision, I’ll be on her side [ Simone]”, said the senator at the PSDB-Cidadania federation convention in Brasília today. On the occasion, the two parties made official their support to the emedebista and said that the name for vice will be defined until the limit of the electoral calendar, on August 5th.

Simone Tebet is 52 years old. Born in Três Lagoas (MS), she has a law degree and began her political career in 2003 as a state deputy. From 2005 to 2010 she was mayor of her hometown for two terms. She left office to be deputy governor of Mato Grosso do Sul. She is the daughter of former Senate President Ramez Tebet, who died in 2006. From 2013 to 2014, she was Secretary of Government until, in 2015, she was sworn in as a senator. Tebet gained national projection especially after the strong performance in the Parliamentary Commission of Inquiry (CPI) of the Pandemic of the Senate, last year.
