The emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, met on Wednesday with Venezuelan government authorities in Caracas, in the context of an official visit with which he plans to strengthen energy cooperation, the country’s Foreign Ministry reported.
The sheikh, who arrived in Venezuela on Tuesday night, met with Foreign Minister Carlos Faría at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in Caracas, a meeting that was broadcast on state television VTV.
Officials “meet at Casa Amarilla to review the bilateral cooperation agenda and agreements reached during the president’s visit,” the Foreign Ministry said in a statement. Twitter.
The Foreign Ministry explained, on the same social network, that the roadmap established between Venezuela and Qatar “aims to strengthen oil, gas and food production cooperation.”
Minutes later, the emir was received, at the same venue, by the executive vice president, Delcy Rodríguez, in another activity broadcast by VTV, in which none of the officials made public statements.
Nicolás Maduro visited the State of Qatar between June 14 and 16, where he met with Emir Al-Thani and set up a business conference with local businessmen to encourage investment in the Caribbean country.
One of these new businesses, the Foreign Ministry recalled this Wednesday, is the inauguration of a direct flight between Caracas and Doha starting in October, operated by the Venezuelan state airline Conviasa.
