Colonel José Gámez is considered one of the more than 230 political prisoners in the country. He was arrested by officials of the General Directorate of Military Counterintelligence (Dgcim) on January 20, 2015, after being accused of an alleged conspiracy to overthrow Nicolás Maduro.
The lawyer Jackeline Sandoval demanded on the night of this Tuesday, July 26, an urgent medical transfer for Colonel José Gámez, who has been detained for more than seven years without trial.
Through her Twitter account, the lawyer said that such care must be specialized and with doctors trusted by the military. She also pointed out that humanitarian measures have been requested on several occasions due to her health condition but have been denied.

According to the lawyers, the soldier has had two cerebrovascular accidents that have not been treated correctly. He also suffers from malnutrition, has suffered from thrombosis and partial paralysis of his body.
