The president approved Admiral Aníbal Brito Hernández and MG Santiago Infante Itriago as new commanders of the Navy and Aviation, respectively. Nicolás Maduro had already been absent from three acts related to the Armed Forces. On July 24 he offered a virtual message
The mandatary Nicholas Maduro was presented on the afternoon of this July 26 at the facilities of Fort Tiuna, the main military headquarters in the country, for the transmission of command of the Navy and the Aviation of the National Armed Forces (FAN). This is his first public appearance at the facility after missing three events, including Independence Day.
He said that this act is important for the FAN “in its institutional capacity for command, in its capacity for action for the comprehensive defense of our territory and our people. A very important act that seals the month of July with a flourish, the month of recognition, promotions and graduations».
From Fort Tiuna, nine troops were promoted to the ranks of Major General and Admiral, including Admiral Aníbal Brito Hernández and MG Santiago Infante Itriago, appointed as Commanders of the Navy and Aviation, respectively.
Maduro also assured that the FAN is “fighting for the dream of San Martín and Bolívar” and “the South American union.”
The Venezuelan ruler did not attend on July 24 to the act for the 199 years of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo and Navy Day. A month earlier, he also declined to participate in the Army Day events, and on July 5, Independence and National Armed Forces Day, the ruler sent a virtual message.
