A group of university students presented to the Comptroller General of the Republic, Gerardo Solís, a request to carry out an audit of the Autonomous University of Chiriquí (UNACHI), but to their surprise, the Comptroller’s Office already has one in progress.
Solís explained to the young people that the Comptroller’s Office has been fulfilling its role and clarified that this audit is already being carried out and once it is completed it will be delivered to the competent authorities. “We are not announcing an issue that is of a legal nature and that could threaten the presumption of innocence,” Solís stressed.
The students also asked this supervisory entity for an audit of the National Assembly.
This group expressed its concern to the Comptroller regarding the issues of the UNACHI and the National Assembly, receiving in exchange the guarantee that this entity will continue to fulfill its oversight role, implementing a Correction Culture so that the entities do not incur acts of corruption and that develop a policy of accountability and transparency.
In addition, they formally sent the Comptroller a letter with the request to which he assured them that he would formally respond to their concerns in the same way.
